Pump, pressurize or charge: soakers for pool days and block parties.

Choose this if

  • Pick this if the plan is a pool or block party.
  • Pick this if you want a game for a mixed crowd.
  • Pick this if you want zero ammo to buy.

Skip it if

  • Skip this if you want a dry game with no cleanup.
  • Skip this if you want a powered blaster with no refills.

What to check

  • Compare capacity and refill method for the length of the game you are planning.
  • Check whether the blaster needs charging or pumping before you set up teams.
  • Treat published range as a claim from its source, not a promise of performance in your yard.

Questions

How big are the tanks?

Tank sizes are published for three models here: the Super Soaker Hydro Frenzy at 24 fl oz, the Wave Spray at about 30 fl oz, and the XP100 with a removable 1.26 L (44 fl oz) tank. The SpyraThree is listed at about 22 regular blasts per tank by reviewers, not confirmed by Spyra.

Do any water blasters need charging?

The SpyraThree is battery-powered: Spyra's specs list over 2,200 shots per charge and a 4-hour recharge. The Spyra LX is a manual pump with no charging, and the Super Soaker models here are manual-pump too. Check each product page for the power type before you plan teams.

How far do water blasters spray?

Treat range as a claim. Spyra's product page states a 10 m regular shot and a 15 m PowerShot for the SpyraThree. The Hydro Frenzy shows roughly 30 ft from a GamesRadar review that does not state its method. The XP100, Wave Spray and Spyra LX have no published range.

What ages are water blasters for?

Only the Super Soaker Hydro Frenzy lists an age rating in our catalog, 6+. The rest do not have one published here, so read the maker's instructions before you hand one over. Aim away from faces and keep eye protection on if your group wants it. Our backyard rules guide covers a stop word.
