How many blasters?
Pick your event
Birthday party (ages 8 and up)
Foam only: no stinging ammo, no batteries to chase, and the maker ratings cover the whole guest list.
8 blasters in the kitMaker ratings: 8+6 to 8 players
Water fight or pool party
Pump soakers for the group and one bigger blaster for the organizer. Refill stations do most of the work.
7 blasters in the kitMaker ratings: 6+ to 14+6 to 10 players
Teen backyard war (14+)
Two matched teams so neither side owns the better gear. The gel blasters are 14+ by maker rating, so only players 14 and up use them. The stand-by foam blaster (8+) is for younger siblings.
9 blasters in the kitMaker ratings: 8+ to 14+8 players
Halloween and costume parties
Bright, obviously-a-toy blasters for costumes and haunted yards. The two bubble blasters (3+) add a bubble effect and have no tips; the foam blasters are 8+, so only players 8 and up carry those. Leave orange tips on the foam blasters and keep play on private property.
5 blasters in the kitMaker ratings: 3+ to 8+4 to 6 players
Rules that apply to every party
- Match each player's age to the maker rating. Gel blasters are 14+; use foam for 8+ and mixed ages. Bubble blasters are rated 3+ and are for effects, not for tagging players.
- Eye protection on everyone, including spectators. Details in the age and safety guide.
- Don't aim one blaster type at another's players. Keep gel to the 14+ players, and keep water out of foam and gel games unless everyone agreed to get wet.
- Leave orange tips as shipped and keep play on private property.
- Ammo for the game: use the ammo calculator; read the backyard rules aloud before round one.
