Gel Blaster Surge vs Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow)

What actually differs

• Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow) claims 240 fps against 170 fps for the Gel Blaster Surge, about 41% faster on paper. Faster shots fly flatter and sting more; for younger or mixed-age players the slower blaster is usually the better host's choice.
• Claimed range: 150 ft for the Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow) versus 100 ft for the Gel Blaster Surge. Range claims are best-case figures from the maker; expect less in wind or with old ammo.
• The Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow) holds 1000 rounds to the Gel Blaster Surge's 800, so Gel Blaster Surge players reload 2× as often in a long game.
• Both use the same ammo refill, so ammo cost is a wash.

Which one to get

• Gel Blaster Surge: Teens who want a rechargeable gel blaster with a big hopper Watch out: Some retailers list 150 fps rather than 170, and the maker now sells a 'Reworked Battery' revision. No maker age rating is published for this model.
• Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow): Teens who want the longest claimed range in our catalog Watch out: The most powerful gel blaster on our list on paper, so it is a teens-and-adults pick, not one for a mixed-age party. Battery runtime is not published.

Still deciding? Tick both in the spec table to add a third blaster, or work out ammo for a whole game in the ammo and budget calculator. Everyone in range wears eye protection, whatever you pick: see the age and safety guide.
