Gel Blaster Surge vs Nerf Pro Gelfire Uproar

What actually differs

• Gel Blaster Surge claims 170 fps against 150 fps for the Nerf Pro Gelfire Uproar, about 13% faster on paper. Faster shots fly flatter and sting more; for younger or mixed-age players the slower blaster is usually the better host's choice.
• The Gel Blaster Surge holds 800 rounds to the Nerf Pro Gelfire Uproar's 400, so Nerf Pro Gelfire Uproar players reload 2× as often in a long game.
• Ammo runs $0.50 per 1,000 for the Gel Blaster Surge and $0.90 for the Nerf Pro Gelfire Uproar, based on each brand's own refill pack. Over 10,000 rounds of play that is $5.00 versus $9.00.

Which one to get

• Gel Blaster Surge: Teens who want a rechargeable gel blaster with a big hopper Watch out: Some retailers list 150 fps rather than 170, and the maker now sells a 'Reworked Battery' revision. No maker age rating is published for this model.
• Nerf Pro Gelfire Uproar: A first gel blaster that ships with a big ammo supply Watch out: Runs on 8 alkaline batteries (not included); Hasbro's own copy says AA in one place and AAA in another, so check the box.

Still deciding? Tick both in the spec table to add a third blaster, or work out ammo for a whole game in the ammo and budget calculator. Everyone in range wears eye protection, whatever you pick: see the age and safety guide.
