What actually differs
- Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow) claims 240 fps against 200 fps for the SplatRBall SRB400-SUB, about 20% faster on paper. Faster shots fly flatter and sting more; for younger or mixed-age players the slower blaster is usually the better host's choice.
- The Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow) holds 1000 rounds to the SplatRBall SRB400-SUB's 400, so SplatRBall SRB400-SUB players reload 3× as often in a long game.
- Ammo runs $0.50 per 1,000 for the Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow) and $0.75 for the SplatRBall SRB400-SUB, based on each brand's own refill pack. Over 10,000 rounds of play that is $5.00 versus $7.50.
Which one to get
- Gel Blaster Surge XL 2 (Glow): Teens who want the longest claimed range in our catalog Watch out: The most powerful gel blaster on our list on paper, so it is a teens-and-adults pick, not one for a mixed-age party. Battery runtime is not published.
- SplatRBall SRB400-SUB: Teens building a two-team game with rechargeable gear Watch out: Battery runtime is not published, and no range figure is published, so we leave range blank.
